What is the PTE course duration at Nepcoms?
Four weeks of taught classes, one hour a day, Sunday to Friday, which is about 24 taught hours. That covers all twenty two question types, two full length mocks and marked writing and speaking. If you have not reached your target score by the end of week four you repeat the cycle at no extra charge, so the effective PTE course duration is however long your score needs. As a rough guide, a student starting near 40 who wants 65 should plan for eight to ten weeks, while a student already at 58 often needs three.
What time is the PTE class morning session?
One slot, 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning, running Sunday to Friday. We do not run afternoon or evening PTE classes. There is a single slot rather than several because PTE is scored on recorded speech, so every student needs real microphone time inside the hour, and splitting one trainer across three sessions would cut that time to a third.
How much does a PTE course in Kathmandu cost?
Published rates across Kathmandu institutes generally run from about NPR 10,000 to NPR 30,000 for a full preparation course, varying with course length, class size and whether scored mocks and materials are included. We quote our own fee at counselling rather than on this page, because it depends on whether your free mock shows the standard four week cycle is enough or whether you need an extended one. What we will not do is quote a low headline price and then charge separately for mocks and speaking feedback.
Do I have to wait for a batch to start?
No. We run no fixed batches and publish no batch dates. The syllabus is a rolling four week cycle, so you can join on any working day and still cover Speaking and Writing, Reading and Listening in full before you finish. Most people start the next working day after their free mock.
How much does the PTE test cost in Nepal?
Roughly NPR 32,000 to 33,000 as of September 2026. Pearson raised the PTE Academic list price to USD 220 in March 2026, and the rupee amount you actually pay depends on the exchange rate at checkout and on any promotional voucher running that month. You pay Pearson directly through your myPTE account, not us. Confirm the live figure on pearsonpte.com before booking.
How quickly do PTE results come back?
Typically within 48 hours, and in most cases inside two business days, occasionally up to five when a response is flagged for human review. That speed is the main practical reason Nepali applicants choose PTE over other tests when an intake deadline is close. Scores sit in your myPTE account and can be sent to as many institutions as you like at no extra cost.
Where can I sit PTE in Nepal?
There are Pearson authorised test centres in four cities: Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan and Biratnagar. Kathmandu has the most locations and the widest choice of dates. The centre you choose does not change the fee. Book through your myPTE account, and book only once your mock scores are holding at target.
Is PTE easier than IELTS?
Neither test is easier in the abstract; they suit different people. PTE is fully computer based and machine scored, which favours candidates who type well, speak fluently into a headset and work fast under a clock. IELTS has a human examiner for Speaking, which favours candidates who perform better in conversation than into a microphone. The practical differences that matter more are result speed, which PTE wins, and whether your target institution accepts the test at all, which you must check before paying for either.
How long is a PTE score valid?
Two years from the test date. Some universities and immigration authorities apply their own shorter window, so check the requirement of the institution you are applying to rather than assuming the full two years will be accepted. Our counsellors verify this per university as part of the application.
What score do I actually need?
It depends entirely on the destination and the course. Pearson's own guidance puts foundation and pathway courses at 36 to 50, undergraduate degrees at 51 to 60 and postgraduate degrees at 57 to 67, while professional registration and skilled migration routes commonly want 65 or higher with a minimum in every skill. Those are starting points. Bring your shortlist to counselling and we will give you the exact published minimum for each course rather than a general range.
What changed in the PTE test in 2025?
Pearson added two speaking tasks from 7 August 2025: Respond to a Situation, and Summarize a Group Discussion. Scoring was also strengthened, with AI working alongside human experts to detect copied or unoriginal responses, which is why memorised template answers now carry real risk. The overall structure did not change: still three parts, still two hours, still 10 to 90, still results in about two business days.
Do you offer a trial class before I pay?
Yes. Sit the free scored mock and attend a PTE class morning session before you commit. If the teaching style does not suit you, that is useful information and it costs you nothing to find out.
Can I prepare for PTE while applying through Nepcoms?
That is the usual pattern. Preparation and application run in parallel: you attend the 7:30 class while our counsellors shortlist courses, prepare documents and handle your No Objection Certificate, so no time is lost waiting for a score before applications begin. Preparing and applying separately, through two different offices, is what causes missed intakes.
