PTE is one continuous computer test with no separate speaking appointment and no examiner in the room. Every hour of this PTE course in Kathmandu is spent on one of these twenty two question types or on a scored mock. There is no general English filler.

Five question types, and the shortest part of the test. Timing is what fails people here, not vocabulary. Re order Paragraphs and the two fill in the blanks types carry the most weight per minute spent, so they get the most drill time in the PTE class morning session.

Week four adds twenty Write from Dictation sentences a day. It is repetitive and it is the fastest points on the test.

Because a single slot is a smaller room, and because a PTE course in Kathmandu lives or dies on microphone time. PTE is scored by machine on how you speak, which means every student has to speak out loud in a headset for a real share of the hour. That is arithmetic, not policy: split the same trainer across three slots and each student gets a third of the microphone time.

How to join, any day of the week

Four weeks at one hour a day, six days a week, is roughly 24 taught hours. That is enough to cover every one of the twenty two question types, sit two full mocks and have your writing and speaking marked more than once.

Where competitors quote six or eight weeks, they are usually padding a timetable to fill a batch. Four focused weeks plus honest feedback beats eight unfocused ones. But the PTE course duration that matters is the one your score needs, so if you are not ready at the end of week four you repeat the cycle at no extra charge. A student starting near 40 who wants 65 will normally need eight to ten weeks. A student already at 58 often needs three.

Two things shorten the PTE course duration more than anything a trainer can do: attending all six days rather than three, and doing the daily speaking homework out loud rather than in your head. Two things lengthen it: booking the test before you are ready, and skipping Write from Dictation practice because it is boring. No PTE course in Kathmandu can change either of those for you.

PTE Academic is reported on a scale of 10 to 90, with a separate score for each of the four communicative skills and a Skills Profile underneath. Nothing is a pass or a fail. The institution sets the number it will accept, and results stay valid for two years.

Conversions are indicative. An institution that asks for IELTS 6.5 does not automatically accept PTE 58; it publishes its own PTE minimum, and that is the only number that counts. Bring your shortlist to counselling and we will give you the exact figure rather than a general one.

What most local preparation misses

PTE is marked by an algorithm, and that changes how you should prepare

There is no examiner sitting across the table. Your speaking is recorded and scored by machine, with human experts reviewing complex responses and checking for copied or unoriginal answers. That is not a reason to distrust the score. It is a reason to prepare differently from the way you would prepare for a face to face interview, and it is the part almost no PTE course in Kathmandu teaches properly.

Respond to a Situation and Summarize a Group Discussion. If an institute is still teaching the pre 2025 task list, ask them why.

  • We record your speaking in every PTE class morning session and play it back, because how you think you sound and how the microphone hears you are different things.
  • Typing speed is drilled for the written tasks. The word counter on screen is the only place your essay length is visible.
  • Memorised template essays are detectable and are penalised. We teach structures, not scripts to recite.
  • A Nepali accent is not penalised. Being hard to follow, trailing off, or swallowing word endings is.
Choosing between them

PTE or IELTS, and which one you should sit

We teach both, so we have no reason to push you either way. This is the version we give students at counselling.

Sit PTE if

  • You need a result quickly. Scores typically arrive within two business days rather than in a week or more
  • You are more comfortable speaking to a computer than to a person across a desk
  • Your typing is reasonable and your spoken fluency is better than your written grammar
  • You are applying to Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom, where PTE is widely accepted for both study and visa routes
  • You want to book and rebook easily. Test dates in Kathmandu are frequent

Sit IELTS instead if

  • Your target institution or regulator names IELTS specifically and does not list a PTE minimum
  • You speak far better to a human than into a headset, and freeze at a microphone
  • You need a UK visa route that requires a test PTE does not cover for your case
  • Your typing is slow enough that it would cost you marks the English does not deserve to lose

How long is a PTE score valid?
Two years from the test date. Some universities and immigration authorities apply their own shorter window, so check the requirement of the institution you are applying to rather than assuming the full two years will be accepted. What score do I actually need?
It depends entirely on the destination and the course. Pearson's own guidance puts foundation and pathway courses at 36 to 50, undergraduate degrees at 51 to 60 and postgraduate degrees at 57 to 67, while professional registration and skilled migration routes commonly want 65 or higher with a minimum in every skill. What changed in the PTE test in 2025?
Pearson added two speaking tasks from 7 August 2025: Respond to a Situation, and Summarize a Group Discussion. Scoring was also strengthened, with AI working alongside human experts to detect copied or unoriginal responses, which is why memorised template answers now carry real risk. The overall structure did not change: still three parts, still two hours, still 10 to 90, still results in about two business days.
Do you offer a trial class before I pay?
Yes. Sit the free scored mock and attend a PTE class morning session before you commit. If the teaching style does not suit you, that is useful information and it costs you nothing to find out.
Can I prepare for PTE while applying through Nepcoms?
That is the usual pattern.
